How do Acupuncture and Chinese herbs work?
By placing fine needles along the energetic pathways of the body (called meridians), acupuncture boosts the body’s own normal curative function and circulates the blood and energy through the body to correct the imbalances and restore the body to normal healthy functioning. Where there is too much energy in one or more channels acupuncture and herbs are used to reduce the energy in those channels, and where there is not enough energy in one or more channels, acupuncture and herbs work to enhance or strengthen the channels that are weak. This “Balancing” can effect changes in blood chemistry, hormone and enzyme levels, cell division, immune stimulation, reducing inflammation, as well as chemically balance every major system in the body. When this is done, the body is restored to its normal healthy functions, and the original illness has been successfully healed. With acupuncture and Chinese herbology, the root cause of the illness and the accompanying symptoms are successfully treated.

What is Holistic Medicine?
Holistic medicine treats the body as a whole, including body, mind and spirit. In other words, all symptoms are inherently related to each other, and in order to treat all symptoms must be treated together, including the patient’s physical, mental and spiritual well being.
At your first visit – which normally lasts about 90 minutes – a comprehensive evaluation of past and present medical history is completed. A traditional pulse diagnosis of the 12 energy channels on the right and left wrists, and tongue diagnosis are done. In addition, the diagnosis, treatment plan and any dietary/nutritional/herbal recommendations are discussed. Muscle testing and an acupuncture treatment are also done at the first visit (with or without needles).
